HRT team principal Luis Perez-Sala says they are considering a name change – Formula 1 news
Luis Perez-Sala, the team principal of HRT has said that they are considering changing team’s name in the future.
After the mid-2011 reconstitution, the Spanish team dropped the title of Hispania Racing Team which it used during their start and began using HRT chassis name.
Moreover, Sala said that they are planning to alter the name. However, he said that they have not taken any kind of decision in this regard until now.
“We are thinking about that,” Perez-Sala told AUTOSPORT. “But no decision has been taken about changing the name. Now, we are HRT. In the future we will see. There is no plan at the moment but it is true that we are thinking about it.”
It will be important to mention that HRT shifted their race operations to Madrid during the three-week time between Bahrain and Spanish Grands Prix. Therefore, they could not be able to participate in the three-day in-season test held at Mugello circuit
last week.
HRT is currently at the last position in the championship standings with its pair of drivers, Narain Karthikeyan and Pedro de la Rosa. Nevertheless, Sala said that they have been trying to bring out the best in them in order to make the essential developments
and the necessary preparations with an aim to improve the pace of the car in the season ahead.
“Our objective this year is to try to be reliable and to develop the car with the resources that we have,” he said.
Besides, he said that they will be very much pleased if they will be successful in reducing the gap while he said that they just want to move ahead and make progress.
He also said that they were facing some issues in the car due to which there has been a lot of delay in their schedule. Nonetheless, he said that they have solved all the problems and are now looking forward to perform well in the season ahead.
“If we can close the gap a bit, we will be very happy but we at least do not want to go backwards,” said Sala.
