HRT test driver Dani Clos to drive F112 in FP1 of 2012 Spanish Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
HRT test driver Dani Clos will be driving the car F112 in the first free Friday practice session of 2012 Spanish Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Clos has replaced the Indian driver, Narain Karthikeyan and will be running the car with his compatriot, Pedro de la Rosa on this Friday.
He took part in Young Driver Test during the preceding year held at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and signed a contract with HRT as an official test driver in February.
The Spaniard expressed that he is very happy to get such an opportunity while he said that he has always strived to make his debut in Formula 1. He also said that it will be an immense pleasure for him to share the wheel with his fellow citizen in his home
circuit with a Spanish team.
“I'm delighted to have this opportunity,” Clos said. “It's something I've fought for all my life; to make my debut in Formula 1 and, above all, to be able to do it at the Circuit de Catalunya which is something very special for me. Besides, I'm extremely
lucky to be able to do it with a Spanish team, alongside another Spanish driver who I admire and at home. I can't ask for more!”
Furthermore, he said that the conditions are perfect for his debut. He added that he will try his best to gather the essential information during the FP1 so as to contribute his share for future advancements in the car.
“It's the ideal situation and I'm proud to be where I am with the people who have always been with me and still are,” he said.
HRT have not been able to score even a single point in the season so far. Nevertheless, they are making the best of the efforts to perform well in the approaching races.
Besides, Luis Perez-Sala, the team principal of HRT has said that they are going to evaluate some important updates in the car at the practice session while he said that they have complete faith in Clos.
