HRT’s Jose Carabante expects tenth spot from his team ahead of Virgin and Lotus – Formula 1 News
Hispania Racing Team’s owner, Jose Carabante has said that his team will look to improve their rankings in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Carabante said that HRT will look at a P10 spot in the ongoing season, ahead of Virgin and Lotus teams. Looking at the previous performance of the Hispania team, P10 has a tough ask on their hands, but Carabante thinks that it is possible.
He said, “In our second season we're looking to show people the Hispania Racing project and prove that it's an ambitious and attractive one. In sporting terms, we're looking to finish in tenth place in the Constructors Championship and are working hard to
achieve this.”
He further added that HRT team will be prepared to take on the challenge from the other two struggling teams, Virgin and Lotus.
HRT debuted in the 2010 season along with Virgin and Lotus team, after the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) thought that number of Formula 1 teams should be increased.
All three new-comers have failed to score their first championship points and finished on the bottom of the table.
In the 2010 season, HRT finished in eleventh place just ahead of the Virgin team, as the Spanish team managed to score three P14 to Virgin’s two.
Carabante said, “We have overcome a difficult first year and I think the evolution of the team is clear for everyone to see. The strategy is clear, the team is consolidated and we are working every day to improve each and every area in order to be as competitive
as possible.”
He added that making it into the Formula 1 arena was a difficult and an ambitious risk, but with hard work and consistency, the team can take-up any challenge.
As the 2011 Formula 1 season progresses, HRT will be under constant pressure from the Formula 1 supremo, Bernie Ecclestone, because the Hispania team will be let go for the 2012 season, if their performance remains at the bottom.
The next race of the season will be held on 22 May, in Spain.
