HRT’s Narain Karthikeyan looking forward to 2011 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team driver Narain Karthikeyan is looking forward to the upcoming Indian Grand Prix, which will take place on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit.
Karthikeyan added that he is very excited for the Indian race, as he will drive in front of his home crowd.
He also mentioned that he is feeling himself very lucky, as he got a chance by HRT to race at his home country racetrack.
He talked to the media and commented, “There is a huge buzz around the grand prix already and I'm sure that it'll be a resounding success. Making it into F1 at the time I did was a seriously uphill task and the thought of being able to compete in the inaugural
Indian GP was non-existent. But it is finally here and I'll be on the grid.”
The 34-year-old driver further stated that he is sure he will race hard at the Buddh International Circuit this weekend. In addition, he said that he will try to get good results for himself and the team.
Karthikeyan was replaced by Daniel Ricciardo after the 2011 European Grand Prix. Ricciardo raced for the Spanish squad until the Korean Grand Prix. The team had already announced that Karthikeyan will present HRT in front of his home crowd in the Indian
race weekend.
On the other hand, HRT principal Colin Kolles talked to the media and said that Karthikeyan is a talented driver and the team feels proud to be going down this path with him.
Kolles added, “Despite not being the most popular sport in India, the excitement around the Grand Prix makes us think that it will be an extremely popular event. And for HRT, it is even more special. Having Narain Karthikeyan, the first Indian driver in
F1 history, and Tata with us makes it feel like a home race.”
The team is still at the same position, where they were in the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season. Due to an unsupportive role of F111 car, the team drivers have been unable to perform well on the grid during the races so far.
Let’s see how HRT perform at newly constructed Buddh International Circuit this weekend.
