Question:

HS graduation speech humor, not insult (?)?

My teachers have specific phrases that they used over and over again throughout the year(s). Some of them know these ID phrases but some of them don't realize that they keep saying them. Can I mention them in my speech, when I mention teachers, or would that be insulting?

  1. Maybe pick the teachers you know are most likely to be okay with the reference--probably the ones who are aware of the tendency to use the phrases?  And watch the tone of voice in which you mention it--the wrong tone can make your humor into an unintentional insult!

  2. you are outa there!! say what ever you like.  Your little sayings might be kinda cozy as long as they aren't totaly rude!  If the teacher was rude - hmmmmmmmmmmm - ah, be nice!! you're outa there!!

  3. I think it would be a neat little compliment to them that you have noticed and remembered their teaching tools.
