Question:

HSA Medical Insurance?

I am thinking of going with an insurance plan that qualifies for a HSA. The plan has no maternity but will cover mom and baby if there are complications. My AFLAC guy wants to sell me a policy that give you money for a hospital stay and having a baby qualifies for the plan. We plan to get pregnant later this year, do you think that i am crazy to go without maternity and use the aflac to help pay for things?

  1. Nope, I did this myself.  Just make sure that the exact plan(s) you are looking at will work with the HSA plan.

It would be a good idea to get quotes and information from an agent in your local area.  You can do that easily by filling out a form at http://www.myinsurancequotes.net.  A local agent will help you figure it all out.  I hope that helps!

  2. What kind of money does the AFLAC give you for hospital stays? Just lost wages or what else? Prenatal care and hospital expenses can easily approach $10K with a normal birth with a C-section being a few grand more. If you are planning on getting pregnant, getting the maternity coverage would likely be a net win for you.
