Question:

HSBC Security Belt Device?

Hello,

I have been doing my work experience at one of the bank's branches of HSBC. I am 15. Disaster struck today (Friday), when I accidentally forgot to remove the security device thing (which hooks on to your belt and looks like a mobile phone from 1997) used when out of the bank. It is now at home with me, and I also got a call from the HSBC Fire Department telling me to ring them back. They left a home telephone no. and I thoguht it would be rude to return their message/call at 11:00pm. The man did NOT sound like he was angry or wanted to talk urgently. I will take the device STRAIGHT back to the branch tomorrow morning and tell them I am sorry and it was a mistake. Will they be mad and am I doing the right thing????

P.S. Did this small little device cause an alarm to sound in the branch as it was not their with the others??? But how could this be when the man did not even sound annoyed or angry???

PLEASE help me!!

Tom

  1. Easy mistake to do.

Firstly Yeah it will have raised alarms But not at the branch.

These divices are for abduction of staff. If a staff member is kidnapped to be held as hostage whilst a robbery takes place then when the divice leaves the building it automatically sends a signal to a control centre who would of initially phoned the bank and asked them if everything was ok and asked them for their password.

If the password was given then nothing else would happen. If the password was not given then they send the police.

I wouldnt worry about it. Just take it back... What can they do sack you.

If they are horrible to you I would press the panic button because they get a £900 fine for a false alarm

  2. Expect to get told off = but don't let them upset you all that much .. people forget this sort of thing all the time .. (the poor guy probably has to ring some-one up every week)

The fact that other people also forget is NO excuse , so DON'T try to defend yourself .. just say 'I'M REALLY SORRY, IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN' ...
