HTC? does anyone have one and use the office functions?

I know the blackberry "as is" will only allow you to view documents in excel and word but HTC has edit capability, and i need that.

I don't want to start messing with the programming beyond the features offered. I know some people can hack into the blackberry but they are $400 if you have to pay for them (like in the event you void the warranty)

I want something that does what i want out of the box.

Can you provide any personal reviews re: reliability, functionality or user friendliness?

  1. I have used the ATT branded htc 8125 8525 and i now use the tilt .I like windows mobile 5 or 6 .I use word all of the time for notes etc.I haven't had a use for excel .There are a few things you have to get used to though.

(1)programs do not close when you click the x button it still runs in the background. It does make it faster if you are running between programs at the same time. You can change the settings on it so it will though. If it does get slow go to settings memory and stop all running programs.

    (2) You will probably have to do a few soft resets on it .

    (3) store what you can on the memory card i use a 2gb micro sd on mine but i have a lot of songs and videos on it.

As far as user friendliness i think that has a lot to do with what you are used to.

I finally started getting a problem on my 8525 so i had to upgrade it was getting a white screen more and more often  but it had over 400 hours (not minutes)of calls on it.So i would think that is fairly reliable for a pda phone.

If you are planning to go on the internet with it  install opera mini then you can open regular web pages instead of just mobile pages.

also if you want a program for it you can find it .

Battery life is the biggest problem with any of them .
