Question:

HTML and Photoshop CS3 - Can't Get Images To Display?

Hi,

Everybody who knows about exporting slices from PS CS3 to HTML knows that the images are put in a folder called "images" and the html document will be called "title.html".

When I open up "title.html" on my computer, the images display and everything is normal. However, when I upload everything via FTP onto my website, not a single image displays. When I go to the HTML file, the images are refered to as "images/image.gif", and are placed in the same directory as "title.html". However, when I change the image names to "www.mywebsite.com/images/image.gif", it works and displays. Does anybody know a quicker way to fix this problem? I've got 250 slices or so and I don't have the patience to do this to every single slice.

Thanks.

  1. You can't have the images and the html document in the same directory, but you can have a folder with the images in it in the same directory.  They were in the proper relationship to each other on your computer, but when uploaded, that relationship was maintained.

You should mirror on your hard drive the same and exact directory structure as used on the web site.  That will always tip you off that a path isn't correct if viewed locally in the browser or html editor.
