Question:

HTPC dvi2hdmi to new LCD problem?

I recently purchased a new 42 inch Philips LCD, I previously had a Westinghouse 32" LCD @ 720p with a Asus Pundit HTPC ran to it via DVI/HDMI cable with no problems. When I purchased the new TV and hooked it up it shows the bios and pre windows vista booting but once desktop comes up it looses signal. If I connect the HTPC to my projector and boot the pc and then swap the cable to the Philips LCD it will work but once rebooted it will not, basically it will not work booting on the Philips only swapping. I tried hitting f8 upon boot and booting with VGA resolution but it's not working, only thing that works is safe mode.

  1. It is probably a Philips HDMI EDID issue or you try to force a resolution the TV (or your video card) does not support.

Try either 1080i or 720p on the PC.

When you can connect to the Philips, go to Display and see if your PC can see the TV as an actual TV (read the EDID).

You may want to call Philips support as well.
