were going to go North of Florida or just North & came strait at us . I Live in Cental Florida ,

( Brevard County ) Do you think it could hit Florida or even gO to South Florida & come up thru the Gulf

To hit Texas Or mexico . I really dont think it would do that becuase its showing no movent

o it going to the South , Just West & barley inching North . Whats your thought on this whole thing ?

  1. Yes, it is a tropical storm right now, and as of the last update it is only 20 mph away from becoming a hurricane.

As it moves west... it will inevitably strengthen into a hurricane, likely Category One or weak Category Two Storm.

As it strengthens, it is expected to shift north and west most likely hitting somewhere, this weekend, between Norfolk, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida.

Brevard Co, FL you must keep an eye on this storm. It would not hurt to start preparing in case of evacuation.. If it does head more south towards Florida.. reprecussions will be worse for the United States.

I'd hate to "wish" it would hit North Carolina, but if it hit North Carolina, drought stricken states of the southeast (Ga, Nc, Sc, Tn) would all get some much needed rainfall.

If it hits anywhere south of Daytona Beach, Florida, and there is a chance it could, expect it to re-emerge into the Gulf of Mexico and possibly strengthen into a hurricane again...  not to mention RAISE THE PRICE OF OIL.

The stronger it gets in the next 24-36-48 hours the farther north the storm will make landfall.

However, if it is still a tropical storm in two days, Florida, watch out!

Remember, hurricanes are relatively unpredictable, and can change their direction on a dime... Meteorologist may get a general idea of the track, but don't know for certain until about a day or two in advance.

Watch this one from Virginia Beach to Miami!

  2. I've watched hurricanes for years, and it looks like this one is going to hit around central Florida after picking up a bit of strength.

Now if I'm right, I want you to give me the best answer selection.  That's if you have a house and computer left after it hits land!

  3. It's actually a Category two hurricane now. This website has some details.

I go to Florida in a week for vacation, I'm from the UK and hoping that it won't hit Florida so I'm keeping an eye on it. I'll let you know if I find any other information.

  4. Well, it is a category 2 hurricane. But After the big mistake they made last year I do not trust them (NOAA). Even though I am no metorolgist it could make landfall.

  5. from the looks of it i doubt it will become a major hurricane

also it looks like from all the models i am seeing it will take a north east turn and stay out to sea , reaching colder waters

and breaking apart . does not look like Bertha will be a major issue or even a problem on the eastern seaboard , but still to early to know for sure

  6. It's a category 2 hurricane now and looking at the vapor loops in GOES it's possible that the track of the Bertha will be more east than predicted. Man! those forecasted tracks they show are really archaic, its like they don't even take in consideration that the pressure zones move and so do the upper level wind paths that are what mostly affect the path that the hurricane will take. I would not be surprised if Bertha made its way north all along the east coast of Florida.
