HURRY cig and power source = no no?

so i have a mazda protege mp3. and there is cig lighter in it, is that the same as one of those acc. outlets? for like car chargers and stuff? because i was gonna try it but then i was in my moms murano and lookin at her owners manual and she one has a power source, and in the manual it said - DO NOT USE FOR CIG LIGHTER- so now i'm wondering if something bad will happen if i put a phone charger in my cig lighter. please answer only if you know the real answer thanks

  1. with your mazda, you are okay to use the lighter for a power outlet. the one in your mom's murano, as do some newer vehicles (SUV being the majority) have a seperate connector strictly as a 12v power source. those are the ones you do NOT want to put a cig lighter in,  for the power rating is usually higher in those sockets. olsothe lighter would not match the internal connection and short circuit the system. but you would be just fine to use your cig lighter in your mazda.


  2. 12 volt acc outlet is not the same as a cig lighter thats all

    they have the same voltage and sometimes the same amp rating its the insides of it that are different
