  1. You might wana try a 3 ton or 3 1/2 ton unit. Extreme weather conditions are too extreme  LOL Good luck. Where you live that will depend a lot on this decicion.

  2. Could be if you live in the northern states near the big lakes.

  3. 1 ton for every 700 sq ft plus 1/2 ton........

  4. No, A one and a half ton is only good for a small one bedroom apartment. You need a 3.5 ton at least to be happy. Look at it like this: You need a ton for each bedroom.

  5. It's true to say that there's a lot of variables, but 1 1/2 sounds a bit light.  I generally figure 1 ton per 700 sq ft, as a baseline, and adjust according to insulation, windows, where you're located, and so on.  When in doubt, always go with the smaller of the two choices.  Still  1 1/2 sounds a bit light.

    Hope this helps

  6. Way too many variables involved here to answer that with any integrity.

  7. Maybe in Canada. Maybe 2 1/2 would be closer.

My home is 1600 sq ft and I have a 3 ton unit. I live on the Gulf Coast.
