Habib Bank Limited v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-International-Airlines-c831 – President's Trophy, 2012/13 – Match Update
A steady unbeaten half-century from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, played from November 2 to 5
at the Jinnah Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842.
The match commenced on November 2, with HBL winning the toss and deciding to bat first. PIA’s Aizaz Cheema (21-9-33-4), Anwar Ali (18-3-57-3), and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Sajid-c70141 (11-2-27-2), however, did not allow their opponents to rack up too high a score, and they were
eventually restricted, all out, to 200.
Most of HBL’s batsmen managed to get starts, but none were able to convert them into substantial scores. Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shan-Masood-c89637 top-scored for the team with 42, but the remainder of the batting order failed to rise to the challenge.
Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Shafiq-c46208 (25) were both unremarkable, dismissed by Anwar Ali, and Fahad Masood (26) was similarly lacklustre. By the
end of the first day, HBL found themselves all out at 200.
HBL attempted to make up for their dismal batting performance by launching a fierce bowling attack, spearheaded by Fahad Masood (19.5-5-33-6) and Ehsan Adil (16-3-67-2). PIA faltered worse than their opponents during their first innings, with only three
batsmen managing double-digit scores. Shehzar Mohammad scored just 19, and while Shoaib Malik (56) and wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarfraz-Ahmed-c88818 (53) chipped in with half-tons, their efforts were unsupported by the remainder of the batting order. On day 2, PIA succumbed,
all out, at 172.
Having registered a disappointing batting performance, the team attempted to make amends via their bowling attack. PIA’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aftab-Alam-c945
(58) was the sole batsman who managed a half-century, while Ahmed Shehzad (20), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Humayun-Farhat-c63606 (26), and Fahad Masood (14) were the only other batsmen who reached double figures. By day 3, the team was all out at 147, setting their opponents a 176-run target.
Although HBL’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anwar-Ali-c45231 (31*), both of whom set up an unbeaten 79-run stand to get PIA over the finish
line, with 6 wickets still in hand.
