The opening batsman of Habib Bank Limited's (HBL) cricket team, Ahmed Shehzad, has said that his team is geared up to defend their Quaid e Azam Trophy 2011-12 title.
HBL defeated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s premier first-class tournament. HBL is considered amongst the strongest teams in the domestic cricket of Pakistan, and have won a lot
of major tournaments since 1970.
The Bank has produced a number of great cricketers for Pakistan, including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691
also belong to HBL.
The title holders have so far played three matches in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy this season and have won two. They currently stand third on the points table along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842.
Shehzad, who has been out of the national team since the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, is happy with his team’s performance in the domestic season so far and claims that the morale of HBL is very high.
The opening batsman said, “I’m really pleased with the start that Habib Bank and I have made this season in the Quaid E Azam Trophy. We are the defending champions and we are determined to make a very good fist of retaining the trophy.”
HBL was defeated in their opening match of the tournament by a relatively weaker Sialkot side. However, the bankers have bounced back in a nice manner to win the next couple of matches.
Shehzad feels that the best part about HBL is the team spirit and all the boys gel well together. It is a mixture of youth and experience in HBL and this is the reason behind their success at the domestic circuit in the country.
“We didn’t start too well, we were a bit rusty and weren’t at our best but the last couple of matches we have found our form and done very well as a team. We have a great bunch of guys at HBL and it is a pleasure playing alongside these boys,” Shehzad added.
