Habitrail hamster water troubles!

Question

I just bought the habitrail cage, but I don't know if my hamster is drinking from the water bottle in it. I don't think she knows how PLEASE help me!!!!!

Put your hamster by the water bottle and show her that water comes out of it by using your finger or a toothpick.  Most people, including myself, have the same concern when buying a hamster a new cage.  Don't worry, she'll figure it out.  You'll know she's been drinking when the water level in the bottle goes down.  Also, since they're nocturnal they drink the most during the night so your chances of seeing her drinking during the day are slim.

The habitrail is a very bad cage, it almost killed my hamster 4 or 5 times, it does not have enough air ventilation, has weak spots, is easily cracked, is PLASTIC!!!, and as you said, hamsters can not figure out how to drink from the bottle. I just recently switched from the habitrail to a wire cage, and my hamster is much more active and happier......for your hamsters sake, switch the cage, oh, and did I mention that I was lucky enough to find my hamster after it escaped all FOUR times?!?! If you don't listen to me, it's your loss, I'm telling you, it's a pile of plastic junk that the company thought that suckers would buy and use as a cage, oh, yeah, I have two more things about the habitrail that could kill your hamster, it does not have enough room for him to run around in, and it cracks easily, and my cat like pawed it without using her claws, it fell over and broke to pieces, even after that, I didn't give up on it, and then later my hamster almost died for the 4th time and I realized it was a pile of c**p. Switch the cage for your hamsters sake! Oh, yeh, if you do take my advice, get a wire cage! Hope I helped and good luck!

i really agree w/ pumpkin!! i would totally get http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... my hammys luv then. i have like 5 of em cause well i have 18 hamsters. they really do luv it. and those plastic cages are a piece of c**p!

hamsters are difficult to find drinking because theyre nocturnal and they hardly drink because they get the water from their food. just dont worry
