  1. Mario Tremblay no longer with the Habs.

No need for Le Roi to boycot  the Habs like Dave Keon did with the Leafs.

  2. Roy deserves it as much as any goalie who has played for the habs. The rift between them if still existent should play no part in the decision. The point of retiring a players number or hanging it in the rafters is to honor someone who was great for your team. Can anyone validly dispute that roy wasn't great for the habs. Think of it this way the rafters are almost like an organizations personal hall of fame and to not hang up a number of a great player because you don't like them would discredit the whole thing. The point of the rafters is to hang up great players numbers not the numbers those you like and exclude those you dislike.

  3. Time heals old wounds

  4. As far as issues between Roy -> mgt its time to move on Corey is no longer in charge Tremblay had given Casseau sh*t for many years even before that fateful game against the wings like when Patrick came up he was told things like "go back to the zoo kid"

(there's one in Granby - where PR had played juniors)

  5. Wow.  What news.  I never thought Montreal would retire Roy's Number.  I remember a few months ago TSN had a poll, "Would Roy make a good coach in the NHL?"  50% said yes, and 50% said no.  That just leads me to believe that half of the NHL world dislikes Roy.  I have no problem with him, because it just seemed like his exit from Montreal was one of those things, where fans would never know the entire story.

    Thanks for the news.

  6. No matter how the relationship ended, Roy was beloved by all in Montreal while he was there.  He gave then some historic runs to the cup.  I don't think the feeling about this will be wishy-washy in Habland.  If he and the club can make up then the fans will be ecstatic that his number gets retired.  I think he desires it.

I still love his response to Roenick's attack in the media of him a while back during a playoff run.

"I can't hear him, I have my two Stanley Cup rings in my ears."   Classic.
