Hi guys, I had a gastric bypass in 2003 and so far (still losing) I've lost 160 lbs. So far things have gone pretty good, but milk makes me dump. I've tried calcium vitamins, but they make me nauseous and I get sick from them. Why do you think this is? What should I do about it?? I am 25 and now 180. I was 340. Any information you need to know about me, just ask.

  1. have you tried the fortified unsweetened soy milk? there is also fortified rice milk too if soy is an issue but the sugar content may be too much for you to tolerate.  I used to buy a liquid form of calcium called Calexcel, it wasn't bad but I can't find it anymore... maybe you can find it online.

I am still touchy with milk 3 1/2 years later, I can eat dry cereal, or drink a little milk, but if I out them together I dump really bad every time

  2. There are support groups on line that can be a good resource for you go search yahoo groups for OSSG.

Milk is going to cause you problems as you have become lactose intolerant.  What type of calcium are you taking?  Calcium citrate is what you need to take.  Try changing up the times of day and the food you take them with.    Congrats on your progress.

  3. I have the same problem with milk.  Arre you still taking chewable vitamins?  I find that Calcium Citrate (Citricale) is most tolerable for me.  I also have to take them with a high protien food.  Milk has a lot of sugar in it.  You just need to find a supplement that works for you.

Congrats on your weight loss!!  I had Gastric Bypass surgery 10 months ago.  I'm down 120 pounds.  35 more to go!!!
