  1. Caught Driving Without Insurance”

There are several actions that might be taken against you when an officer catches you driving without insurance. A first offense for this charge carries a minimum fine of $5000.00 and a maximum fine of $20 000. The second time you are charged with driving without insurance, you face a $10 000 minimum fine and up to $50 000.

This is of course nothing compared to what might happen should you unfortunately get caught in an accident and have no insurance to declare. That would mean that all expenses resulting from damages incurred in the collision would be your responsibility.

Aren't you glad you don't live here in Ontario Canada?

  2. Pay for it.

    Sorry.

Unless it is proven not your fault.  However, depending on where you are, you could still be denied any compensation on the basis you were committing a criminal act.

  3. Was the accident your fault?  If so, there's a chance that the other driver will want you to pay.  Chances are, they won't want to hassle with you though and they will just go through their own insurance to get their car fixed.

If it was NOT  your fault, you can have your car fixed through the other driver's insurance.  You can also get medical bills paid if you were injured, but you cannot get any extra compensation for Pain & Suffering (at least not in California), since you did not have insurance.

I hope all this makes sense.  If you edit your question to include more information such as

    (1) what state you are in

    (2) was the accident your fault and

    (3) does the other driver have insurance....

then I would be able to give better information

  4. your screwed but you will have to pay for repairs out of you own pocket
