Question:

Had an ectopic pregnancy 8 years ago, and had surgey to remove the the 1 tube, can I still get pregnant?

8 years ago I had an ectopic pregnancy, which resulted in surgery. A year later I got pregnant, and had a health lil boy. since then we've have been trying to get pregnant, I got pregnant 1 time 3 years ago. but had a miscarriage after 1 month, and we have been trying ever since, but no luck, I have no health insurance so I cant go to the Dr, to find out whats wrong, but has anyone had this problem?

  1. There's a possibility but there is no way to prevent an ectopic pregnancy. You would have to be closely monitored just in case. I say give it a try. You never know.


  2. You can get pregnant, but you might only ovulate every second month with one tube connected. Have you tried using an ovulation tester? There's one called "Maybe baby" that's re-usable, and seems to be fairly accurate for most women.

    My sister-in-law went through a similar experience to you, and eventually conceived unassisted and managed to deliver a wonderful little girl. She was very closely monitored during early pregnancy, with weekly scans to make sure the embryo implanted in the uterus, and not the tube, then close monitoring throughout the first trimester to ensure everything was progressing ok.
