Had famous musicians ever needed any degree to make a record?

I mean before become famous.

clearly a degree is not necessary to get a recording contract. if you are willing to pay to make the record yourself, you don't even need talent. given the number of famous people, musicians and others, who are cheated out of their earning by managers, accountants, agents, spouses, etc. and end up with nothing, i would think knowledge beyond the area of one's creative genius would assist in keeping the fortune, or at least having a fall back position once the career is over and the money gone. most people today seem to equate a degree as job requirement only. but becoming truly educated should enrich your life and broaden your horizons.   what is the famous musician going to do after obtaining fame?  maybe a reason so many do recreational drugs...the only way they know to pass time.

hey fletcher...... most of them didn't even go to school.......... but these is different times.... its never a bad thing to get educated......... as long as you've got feeling for what your doing... well your halfway there.........

People don't need a degree to make a record.  You don't even need a degree to be famous.  You don't even need good music to make a record.  

However if you want to be financially successful from the records you make, you need music that other people will buy.  The easiest way to accomplish that is you need good music!  Sometimes a degree helps for that, but not always.  Wes Montgomery, the Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald....none of them could even read music. But they could make great music.
