Question:

Had he not been injured, would Carlos Lee be NL MVP?

He's got fantastic stats, but now he's out for the season. He's being overlooked by players like Ryan Howard, or even Lance Berkman, but he really has better stats than most players.

  1. Lee has been having probably one of the best years he have ever had. Just on a tear since hte all star break.  I owned in fantasy baseball and am pissed that he got hurt.

As for MVP, idk.  Houston is like 12.5 games out rite now and how well a team does affect one's MVP status.  But Lee would have my vote if i had one. :)

Longoria will still be ROY in opinion.

  2. I'm betting Longoria will run away with ROY.

As for Lee, he's not even the best player on his team (as you mentioned).  Berkman should get it before Lee.

  3. he only would have been MVP if his team went to the playoffs....thats just the way baseball works

im very pissed he got hurt tho....he was on my fantasy team as well

i think Lee is the best MVP candidate in the NL....bc there really  is no other guy who stands out

    itll probably  be Pujols tho

and yes Longo will run away with the Rookie of the Year

  4. Had he not been injured, he'd probably make a better campaign for the Hank Aaron award. MVP is still the player who contributed most to his team's success. Hard to imagine two players competing against eachother for MVP on a fourth place team. They could've battled it out for Hank Aaron award, but neither of them should be most valuable in the league to a fourth place team.

Bonus: Yes. Other than Ellsbury, no rookie in the AL really stands out. I doubt Longoria will be out for the year.

I see Longoria, Ellsbury, Aviles in AL ROY voting, in that order.

  5. sure carlos lee might have been mvp. but chipper jones flirted with .400 for a good part of the season, so he'll DEFINITELY get a couple of votes.

with his ridiculous average, ryan howard will not win mvp.

yes, i think longoria will win ROTY - an all star, HR derby candidate, 12th in RBIs, 10th in HR for a player who was not on the opening day roster. no other AL rookie comes close!

  6. If Berkman isn't touched, Lee shouldn't even be thought of. Im running for Berkman or Pujols as MVP though.

Hands down, reppin the Rays in the ASG as a rookie.

  7. Lee wouldn't have and Longoria will be ROTY, no competition whatsoever.

  8. Absolutely not. He did not have nearly enough power (HR) to win it. Plus the borderline .500 Houston Astros will likely not produce a MVP.

Berkman to me was a better bet but he has been HORRIBLE in the second half. Howard will not win it. Not when you bat sub .240.

I think the NL MVP comes down to the Central. Pujols vs. Braun. With Braun's injury, and the fact that Pujols might win the Batting Title, I have to lean by a hair towards Pujols at the moment but I'm pretty sure it's one of those two.

As for the bonus, it depends on how long he's out for. Plus it's a wrist injury and they KILL power. If Jacoby Ellsbury can bring the average up to .290 and the Red Sox take the lead, it will be his no question. But I'm not counting on that so I wouldn't bet against Evan all mighty yet.

  9. No

    Bonus is Yes

  10. We all know NL MVP will be Stan Ross... aka Mr. 3000

  11. lee wouldnt be the nl mvp because of his team and their standings in the central

    utley might get some votes

    dont count out ludwick

he is having a monster year

and of course longoria is gunna win the rookie of the year
