  1. ok thats just stupid, dont remove the filter , its probably because its cold in there, try adding a light to the top of your tank to heat the water a little, or you could buy a small ehater from walmart for $10

  2. My bettas used to do that and I had a filter too. They were fine and they lived for a few years. I always would poke my male, Marbles, when he was lying on the bottom of the tank because I thought he was dead. I'm not sure why they stayed at the bottom but it 's a little weird.

    I hope this helps you!

  3. well, one. Bettas dont require a filter. they can live perfectly fine without it. a filter is for only if you have them in a big tank with other tropical fish. they only need a small tank (about 1-1.5 gallons... or less!!) and their tank just needs cleaning once a week. about the hanging out at the bottom of the tank, all Bettas do it. they like to stay at the bottom of their tanks. i have 3 Bettas and they all hang out at the bottom and they are very happy. :). remove the filter and make sure you feed them once every other day. and clean their tank once a week. they really dont need a filter.

  4. Betta's do need a filter and preferably a 5 gallon tank.  They also need water temperatures in the 80F range or they become very lethargic.

  5. It is just when it's cold. My betta did the exact same thing and i bought a heater and it was only 25wts and if you don't whant to get a heater wrap a towel around the tank but if you don't warm the tank up it will slowley stop eating and then die because that is what happend to my first betta and just get some advise from the local pet store/shop

  6. Does his tank have a heater? Are you doing water changes once a week siphoning out 10% water? Feeding him twice a day 3 pellets, and/ or brine shrimp? Are his fins damage? He could have anything from swim bladder to fin rot. All fish need filtration. Lastly are you putting water conditoner drops when you do water changes?
