last two seasons jankovic was dominated by justin henin only, in that case ivanovic is lucky regarding easy draws as compare to jankovic, and jankovic could have won atleast one slam of us open 2006/2007 or french open 2007 and other wta events last two seasons, ivanovic rarely had to face justin and she is lucky to get easy draws.

  1. Maybe, but could've would've should've doesn't do anybody any good.  To win, you have to beat the best, and unfortunately for Jelena she has yet to solve the Justine problem.  But she will one day.

  2. What are you saying? She would have won more titties? We will never know.

  3. I like Jankovic, and think she simply needs to train much more. She uses games as training, which is ridiculous. You can't practice new shots while you're trying to win points.

Henin, I also like, is an excellent player. Like the other dude said, she's just mastering eveyrone.

  4. Dude are you on crack? Henin has dominated everybody with the exception of Clijsters, Davenport, the Williams', Seles and then a handful of 0-1's or 1-2's. She is 9-0 against Jelena Jankovic and 4-0 against Ana Ivanovic. So what you really mean to say is if Henin was not in a tournament that Jelena would win since she would beat everyone else including Ana. Right? WRONG Jelena gets dominated by Clijsters, Coetzer, Chakvetadze, Davenport, Ivanovic, Na, Mauresmo, Molik, Myskina, Panova, Sharapova, Vaidisova.

Jelena is lucky to be ranked as high as 5th in the WTA.

  5. you know what contrary to what most people are saying i would definently have to agree with you.... ok it is true for the most part, jankovic does not liablities in her game.. her lack of focus, a very breakable serve, etc..

but truth be told thinking back to the 2006 us open semifinal.. jankovic did have justine on the ropes... had jankovic not gone off her boiling point she may have caused a 4th upset over a big name player, as she did at the US OPEN beating Kuznetosova, dementevea, and Vaidsova... had she beaten henin she may have surprised sharpova in the final...

at the french open... jankovic is pretty solid on clay.... she did have the bad fortune of running into a near perfect henin.... and when henin is on her absolute  A game.. very small chance she will lose.... jankovic could not do much... but had justine been beaten earlier in the draw jankovic may have had a great chance of overcoming ana ivanovic in that final.....

  6. I don't know about the issue of winning at least one Slam yet  as far as 2006/2007 because she's still trying to work out her game but I do think that Jankovic could probably have won a few more of the other tournaments such as some of the Tier 1 events.  It will be interesting to see how she does this year.

  7. well, there is certainly something about henin that's got into jelena's head. 9 times is quite alot and as close as their matches always have been, one would think she would have at least come away with a couple of those wins. but justine, she's just been so mentally tough. and jelena's not the only player she has overwhelming lead over....ana too. svetlana is the only player other than maria and serena(not to mention that freak loss to marion bartoli)that actually has a couple wins over justine the last two seasons.

whether or not jj was on the opposite side of justine's bracket,i really dunno if the result would be different. jelena still probably would have had to face svetlana or ana both of whom are tough in their own rights against jj. she might have had a better chance but we just don't know what her result would be. but going on your theory.....and in following the same pattern as those tournaments, perhaps she could have had an easier passage had justine lost earlier or didn't play.

i do think though, now, since justine hasn't been playing that well(and has been beaten in straights with bagel sets against maria and serena) and has been injured,if they met, jelena would have a greater opportunity.

  8. Jankovic's biggest fault is her lack of focus which she herself has freely admitted.  It doesn't matter which top player she faces, that lack of focus will always hurt her chances.  If she can overcome that, there is no reason she can't move up in the rankings and win more titles.  It is hard to imagine that she will ever have enough focus to beat Henin - at least for the foreseeable future - and there is no doubt that Henin has been and will always be a significant obstacle to Jankovic winning more titles.
