Had wisdom tooth pulled 3 1/2 hours ago and Im hungry and want to eat?

It says in the directions not for 8 hours. Im SO hungry. Plus I have hypoglycemia so not eating is no helping. The freezing is still there and it is difficult to open my mouth but I can do it to get food in. What will happen if I eat now?

Try drinking ensure or something liquid. The 8 hours is so you don't stress your sutures. you might feel queesy depending on what is already in your stomach. I totally power booted blood clots after my wisdom teeth were pulled (like 12 hours later) but felt fine after that.

I just want to caution you against doing what that poster suggested on drinking a milkshake through a straw.  DO NOT USE A STRAW!  After a wisdom tooth is pulled, you are at risk for developing a very painful condition called "dry socket".  This is when the blood clot that naturally forms over the socket area is loosened and comes off, you will have exposed nerve.  You must be very careful to keep this clot from being pulled off.  It sort of acts like a protective "scab".  The sucking action of drinking through a straw or smoking a cigarette can cause this to happen.  Also, don't swish your mouth too hard with anything yet.

That said, I'm not sure why the directions instructed you to wait 8 hrs.  That is a long time.  Especially if you are hypoglycemic.  I would call the dentist's office and ask them.  They should have someone on call to call you back.  You should be able to start eating very soft foods, like scrambled eggs.    Just take it easy and don't chew on the affected side.

Drink soup or eat apple sauce. I drank soup about 2 hours after I got home from getting all four wisdom teeth pulled. dont eat anything hard. especially if you have stitches. Mine came out and i had to get them replaced.

DONT USE A STRAW!!

Soup, yogurt, juice, water and any type of smooth liquid is all you can eat right now trust me try to chew and you'll regret it.

Chicken broth beef broth any of those are good.
