Hadwin stays positive after missing the cut at Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship
After missing the cut at the Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship presented by Samsung, Adam Hadwin is still staying positive.
The 24-year-old Canadian professional golfer achieved his Nationwide Tour card by displaying an amazing performance at the Professional Golf Association’s qualifying tournament in December, 2011.
He played his first event of the current season in Colombia and was unable to making the cut.
He finished at par in the first round by scoring a 72, but on Saturday, he failed to meet the minimum standards on the course.
Hadwin scored an 8-over par and 78 strokes in total. He was disqualified from the tournament due to low scoring and multiple bogeys.
Missing the cut in the season opening tournament created many difficulties for him. However, he is confident, as he said he will bounce back.
“I’m going to learn more from weeks like (Colombia) than I will from winning. The game, it really did feel pretty good. I hit a lot of good shots. I did a lot of good things, made a lot of good putts that just didn’t fall,” said Hadwin.
He added, “Unfortunately, I had to sign for a 78 the second day, but I took a lot of positives out of the week. I think it’s just more or less one of those weeks, kind of the same thing as Q-school”.
Hadwin played well at the Q-school. In the final stage, he scored 76 and 75 in the fourth and fifth round, respectively and was tied for the 100th position.
His top-100 finish helped him successfully earn a Nationwide Tour card for the current year.
“I performed pretty well for three-and-a-half days at PGA Q-school. It was really just the last two-and-a-half rounds that got me,” Hadwin said.
He played five tournaments in 2011 and finished two in the top-10 on the leaderboard.
He finished tied for the fourth position at RBS Open in July and tied for seventh at Frys.com Open in October.
Hadwin is not playing the PGA Tour events this year. He was also unable to continue his best finishes of 2011.
However, he is positive and confident for the events in the upcoming season.
He said that he hopes and desires to display some massive birdies and strokes on the Nationwide Tour, so that he can earn his PGA Tour card back for the 2013 season.
