Hafeez and Misbah retained as T20 and ODI captains respectively – Cricket News Update
Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 have been retained as captains for T20s and One Day Internationals (ODIs) respectively.
The duo has been under immense criticism recently for their lacklustre performances as Pakistan’s skippers in the limited-over formats.
Under Misbah’s captaincy, the Green Shirts have lost three consecutive ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 earlier this year.
On the other side of the coin, Hafeez replaced Misbah as the T20 captain earlier this year and did a reasonable job, levelling the T20 series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012 in Sri Lanka.
However, the all-rounder has been criticised heavily back home because of his authoritative approach and making a couple of surprising decisions in the mega event.
While addressing a press conference in Lahore, the Chairman expressed that the board has no plans in near future to change the captains and said that a decision regarding the national team’s batting coach will be taken soon.
Ashraf mentioned, “The committee that we have formed will advise us regarding the appointment of the batting coach. They will let us know when we should appoint the coach. As for captaincy, both the T20 and the ODI captains have been retained.”
There has been some criticism on the board for appointing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ata-ur-Rehman-c46580, the former fast bowler who was banned by the PCB in past for his alleged involvement in match-fixing, as the coach of the FATA region.
The PCB chief revealed that the former cricketer has been cleared by the ICC, which left no reason for the PCB to keep him sidelined.
“When he came to us, we looked at his entire record - he has been cleared by the court. He also brought clearance (letter) from the ICC,” he added. “When someone passes by the crime scene, he is also included amongst the suspects. His case was a similar one, but he wasn't involved in any wrongdoing.”
