Hafeez optimistic about Pakistan’s chances of winning third ODI vs. Australia – Cricket News Update
Promising Pakistan all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898, is optimistic about his side’s chances of winning the series deciding third and final One Day International against Australia, to be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, in Sharjah, UAE, on
Monday night.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the last ten years. Their last series win over the mighty Aussies had come in Down Under, in June 2002. Hafeez said that this will be an extra motivation for his teammates going into
Monday’s encounter.
“We, as a team, think about winning every game but if in the process we are able to achieve a record then it’s fine,” said Hafeez during a media encounter on the eve of the third ODI.
The three-ODI series is currently levelled at 1-1, with the might Aussies winning the series opener at Sharjah by four wickets, before the Green Shirts clinched a series levelling seven-wicket victory at Abu Dhabi on Friday.
Hafeez, the vice captain of Pakistan’s ODI and Test side, vowed to take the winning momentum into Monday’s final 50-overs encounter against the Kangaroos.
“We want to take the winning momentum of the second match into the third and our varied bowling attack gives us an edge over Australia,” said the promising Sargodha all-rounder, himself part of the formidable spin trio led by off-spinner
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859.
Ajmal has been Pakistan’s wrecker in chief in the last two games, picking up three wickets at Sharjah and four at Abu Dhabi.
The opening two ODIs have been won by the side batting second, as the heavy dew makes the conditions pretty much unfavourable for the bowlers, and it is being anticipated that it will be a win toss win match situation on Monday. But Hafeez
did not agree with the opinion saying, “They were wet conditions in Abu Dhabi but they are the same for both the teams and I don’t think the toss will be decisive.”
Flamboyant all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691, who had replaced Afridi on Friday, is likely
to retain his spot given the leg-spinner fails to recover in-time.
Meanwhile, Australia are sweating over fitness of paceman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392, who complained of chest pain on Friday.
The three-ODI series will be followed by an equal number of T20 Internationals between the two sides, commencing in Dubai, on Wednesday, September 5.
