Hafeez satisfied with the Twenty20 squad – Cricket News Update
Pakistani opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 is content with the selection of the Twenty20 squad and is aiming to lead from the front in his first stint as the T20 skipper. The right-handed batsman expressed his views during the national team’s training camp for their
upcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, starting from June 1.
The newly appointed captain, who replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, has complete confidence in his side’s ability, and wants to bring stability by giving each player a chance to shine.
“Unfortunately, after one or two poor performances, we start thinking that a player does not deserve to be in the team. I am against all that and will try to create a good environment in the dressing room.” said the veteran.
This is first time Hafeez has been handed over the responsibility of leading the Men in Green in any format of the game. His appointment came after his impressive stints during last year, where he was the leading scorer for his team in both the limited versions
of the game - amassing 1075 runs including three tons and five half-centuries in 50-over format, while scoring 163 runs with two fifties in five Twenty20 matches.
Apart from his batting endeavours, Hafeez has also become an integral part of the bowling lineup. His overall performances have elevated him to occupy the third position on ICC’s ODI all-rounder rankings, and fourth spot on the Twenty20 rankings.
The veteran batsman is confident of steering his men to victory against their Asian rivals, despite the side losing opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-Jamshed-c78752 to injury. The 31-year believes that the team has plenty of firepower in their ranks, capable of filling the void.
“Umar Akmal and the experienced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 are also there plus I am in good form too. So we have enough players to make our presence felt despite Jamshed’s injury,” said Hafeez.
