Hafiz Hashim comes under fire for his failure in All England Open – Badminton News
When sorrows come they come not as single spies but in battalions. The Malaysian shuttler Hafiz Hashim is complete personification of this phenomenon as now he has come under fire for his failure in the All England Open.
The Director General of National Sports Council (NSC) Datuk Zolkples Embong exploded against Hafiz Hashim and raised questions about his future by criticising his poor performance.
The second top Malaysian shuttler, after World Number one Lee Chong Wei, Hafiz Hashim was supposed to represent the country in three European tournaments, the German Open, the Swiss Open and the All England Open but he preferred the All England Open to earn
some valuable ranking points and failed to accomplish even his personal mission.
The former All England Champion did not even make into main draw and was knocked out in qualifying round by an inexperienced Taipei shuttler Chou Tien Chen.
The NSC Director General Zolkples expressed his displeasure over Hafiz’s pathetic exit from the event.
He said, "I watched Hafiz's match on TV and was shocked to see his shoddy performance."
Hafiz Hashim has now a tough challenge ahead when he will be displaying his craft in the upcoming Axiata Cup and Thomas Cup finals.
His position in the team has been questioned by the critics and the latest was the voice of Zolkples who urged Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to give youngsters a chance in these prestigious events.
Zolkples said, "Hafiz has been delivering unsteady performances and BAM must use wisdom to look for a formidable second singles player to complement Lee Chong Wei in the Thomas Cup."
The 29-year-old Malaysian singles expert Hafiz Hashim is in quest of his past glory and it is certainly a huge task for him as the modern techniques have changed this game into complete science and old methods have gone with the wind.
A special four year programme by BAM has allowed youngsters like Zulfadli Zulkifli and Wei Feng Chong to get in the good books to represent the country at international level in the future.
Hafiz Hashim badly needs to swing his arms and stretch his legs to prove his worth in the upcoming team events and to make his critics realise that his experience and brilliance is irreplaceable.
