  1. to most Americans it is gross but to most scottish it is a saving grace and a way to survive.  it is the left overs with out being graphically gross

  2. its tasty!! I love it with a side of swedes or clapshot. mmm.

  3. Yuk.

Although I have never tasted it but I dont think it sounds appealing.

  4. love it and i eat it with anything I'm not fussy lol

  5. When you read what's in it (sheep's heart, liver, and lungs - along with a few other things - boiled in the animal's stomach) it sounds pretty disgusting, but as I recently moved to Scotland I figured I'd try it (on a pizza!) and it's actually pretty nice!

  6. Haggis can be good at certain times of the year. I personally enjoy it a few times a year as it is made traditionally. I'm not one to vary it too much, but just try different things and see what tastes good with it.

  7. I had it once in Scotland and thought it was very good.

  8. I like it, but only a few times a year

  9. mmm battered haggis supper

  10. when i was in scottland a few months back i had it with tatties and yam. i didn't like it much though because i think haggis is to salty for my liking.

  11. i hate it!

  12. Ew. No its horrible! lol

My dad loves it though especially a battered haggis supper from the chip shop when we go up to Scotland!!

    xx

  13. It's DISGUSTING!

    Im Scottish

My mum stuffs chicken b*****s with it then wraps bacon around it.

Dont tell her but its still disgusting!

  14. Both!

  15. It's not a Scottish treat it was originally staple diet.

It is eaten with neeps and tatties, nothing else.

    .

  16. I'm Scottish but my English husband likes it.  I'd serve it with mashed tatties, champit neeps, and maybe a wee bit of whisky poured over the haggis as "gravy".

I'm not a vegetarian but I like vegetarian haggis - something that most people who like "real" haggis don't seem to like. But it keeps everyone happy to have the two options.

  25. Robert Burns said it best:

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face

    Great Chieftan o' the Puddin-race!

Aboon them a' ye tak your place

    Painch, tripe, or thairm

Weel are ye wordy of a grace

    As lang's my arm.

The groaning trencher there ye fill

Your hurdies like a distant hill

Your pin wad help to mend a mill

    In time o' need

While thro' your pores the dews distil

    Like amber bead

    His knife see rustic-labour dight

An' cut you up wi' ready slight

    Trenching your gushing entrails bright

    Like onie ditch

And then, O what a glorious sight

    Warm-reekin, rich!

Then, horn for horn they stretch an' strive

Deil tak the hindmost, on they drive

Till a' their weel-swall'd kytes belyve

    Are bent like drums

Then auld Guidman, maist like to rive

    Bethankit hums

Is there that owre his French ragout

Or olio that wad staw a sow

Or fricassee wad mak her spew

    Wi' perfect sconner

Looks down wi' sneering, scornfu' view

    On sic a dinner?

Poor devil! see him owre his trash

As feckless as a wither'd rash

His spindle shank a guid whip-lash

    His nieve a nit

Thro' bluidy flood or field to dash

    O how unfit!

    But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed

The trembling earth resounds his tread

Clap in his walie nieve a blade

    He'll mak it whissle

An' legs, an' arms, an' heads will sned

    Like taps o' thrissle

Ye Pow'rs wha mak mankind your care

And dish them out their bill o' fare

Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware

    That jaups in luggies

But, if you wish her gratefu' pray'r

    Gie her a Haggis!

  26. LEAVE IT TO THE SCOTS, they invented it , let um eat it!
