  1. it is safe to be on your computer, if you mean in terms of physical safety. it wont bite :), but if the power goes out, you could lose some of the information stored in your computer's documents.

idk about the cell phone though, i would assume that it is okay

  2. These days with protection for our equipment,  storms have less of an effect on electronics,  but it is still safer off of your pc...

  3. If you are indoors, stay off the phone. If you must call someone, use a cordless phone or cell phone. If lightning strikes the phone line, the strike will travel to every phone on the line (and potentially to you if you are holding the phone).

  4. If you have a surge protector and your computer is not connected to a phone line, you're ok. Lightning strikes can come through phone lines, however, so if you have a router connected to one or your computer is directly connected to one you may want to disconnect it. Some surge protectors have phone jacks for this purpose.

Your cell phone is fine because you are not connected to any landline power source. UNLESS it's on the charger, which could be a problem.

  5. Cell phone is nothing to worry about because it's not connected to anything. DO NOT use your home phone though ;)

  6. If you have a surge protector on your computer, you are fine. That doesn't mean that the storm won't knock the power out. It is safe to talk on a cell phone during a storm. And the window situation, I don't really see a problem with it. It is scary no doubt, but i don't see it being unsafe, unless debris flys into your bedroom from the winds
