Question:

Hair Highlighting question...?

I have been getting blond highlights in my hair every 6 weeks for the last 5 years. My natural color is dirty (very dirty) blond. I get my whole head done, so it's almost like a color.

Anyway, for financial reasons, I want to not have to get it done so often.

I will ask my hairdresser this, but I'm wondering if this is possible: Can I get some highlights the regular color I'm used to, and some a bit darker blond (but not my natural color) so that the contrast between the roots and my highlighted hair isn't as stark? I'm not looking for the whole brown and blond look (i'm a teacher and need to be somewhat professional), but does this sound like something that's done or did I just make up something crazy?

  1. No thats totally reasonable.  What you want is to reverse in the darker low-light in so you dont have to do the touch-ups so frequently, thats a fairly simple request and easily achieved.  In fact i usually use two or three shades when I do a highlight/weave.  It just tends to look much nicer anyway.  You might also consider just getting a partial weave (top/sides only) and letting the back go to your natural shade.  That's also a good way to reduce your maintainence and cost.
