Hair careers advice?

they say for you to find the perfect career you need to do what you like ..well i like hair but i dont want to be a hairdresser so any advice??

  1. You have 3 options really:

    1) Do it from home, charge whatever you want.  Downside is you need to make sure your house is decent enough to be a 'place of business'.

    2) Commission split with a salon.  You use their space and split everything you make 50/50 with the salon.

    3) Chair rent.  you pay the salon rent for the space you use and you keep 100% of the money you make.

    For the most part people I know, take the classes and 'practice' on their friends and family at home while they are going to school and shortly after.  This helps establish a little bit of clientele.  Then they'll commission split so they aren't stuck with a rent bill if it's a slow month.  After they have an established clientele and it's profitable enough to make sure they always cover the cost, they move to chair rent.

    It's like any business of your own though...the harder you work, the more money you make, but there's always a chance you don't get a paycheck on any given month.  Risk vs. Reward type of thing.
