Question:

Hair coloring went wrong! Help!?

I went to a professional hair salon today to get my hair dyed. I brought in a picture that was a light brown and me and the hair dresser looked at color swatches and found the shade. All in all, the end product was dark brown, pretty much black.

I'm so upset and she is putting a clarifying thing in it to lighten it tomorrow... but i heard this only lightens it a little... HELP! how do I lighten it a lot..

  1. die it with a light blonde.

    or stay in the sun

  2. Wow!  I've had this happen to me before and it IS very upsetting!

First - be careful of WHAT they put on your hair... if they strip the color back off, it can REALLY REALLY damage your hair!  Something you can do yourself (that may help some) is go to the drug store and buy some Metalax... I think it's by Clairol.  It's an oil type product that will help remove SOME of the color without damaging your hair, but it's not going to remove all of it.

You can also condition it heavily - but again - it's going to take time!

My suggestion - to preserve the health of your hair - would be to ask her to put highlights in your hair.  Yes that will mean she's going to bleach small sections and then tone over those, but better a few pieces than an entire HEAD of dried unhealthy hair!  Plus - that can help lessen the severity of the dark dark brown.  Eventually, it's going to fade and you'll be okay - but it's just not going to happen overnight!

Also - she should "fix" this in whatever way you choose FOR FREE!  This was her mistake and she should fix it at her cost!  Even if that means putting in highlights!  If you don't trust her to do that... she should refund ALL of your money and let you go to someone else to get them put in so that you can STAND your hair!

Hope that helps... good luck and I'm sorry!

  3. Have lots of  fine highlights, You can have tinted highlights however this will depend  on your own base colour. Trust her if  she is a professional. It`s always better to go a shade lighter with browns in my opinion.

  4. after you take several showers it should lighten up.

  5. Okay don't stress too bad within a few weeks some of the color will wash away, but if it's way darker then you want go buy a color remover it will strip the color out and your natural color will show. Or do what the person in front of me said with the lemons and sun I heard it works. There is also a shampoo that keeps your hair blonde I tried it once and it also turned my brown hair lighter. It's brand was Paul Mitchel. So you might want to try that.

  6. stay in the sun alot.

put lemon juice on yer hair and let it dry in the sun.

    do that for a while.

but dont bleach it or dye it blonde or it'll turn an orangy red.

  7. the same thing happened to me my hair looked like a pumpkin! just try to let it fade out on it's own, it won't stay dark forever.

  8. You either need to demand a refund and go somewhere where they know what they are doing or tell them they are going to fix it for free.

Speak with a manager if possible!!!
