Question:

Hair colour disaster help! How to fade?

My natural hair colour is naturally dark brown. About 6 months ago I wanted to get some highlights to make it a bit lighter brown. However the colour my hairdresser actually put on was NOT brown and can only be described as blonde/ginger. Also she used the cap making my full hair look that colour. As my eyebrows are very dark it looked stupid.

So i went to another hairdressers and he pit a semi-permanant on to darken it. It went a light brown and I was happy. Only it kept going back to this blonde/ginger colour. After a while i decided on a darker semi but within a week it had faded! Now I've put 2 more permanant darks on my hair and they've come right out! And it's still ginger/blonde =( my dark roots are taking too long to come through and I've heard you can't strip lighter colour? I don't know what to do as everytime I dye it it goes back to ginger. is the best option to let my roots grow? My hairdresser tells me the dark colours won't stick because my hair is damaged. Please help? xx

  1. I know you are upset but I would ask them to strip all the color out of your hair and dont dye your hair

  2. Hey, i am a hairstylist and what i would suggest to you is to go to your hairdresser and get some hair treatments done to make it a little bit healthier, and then afterwards get them to put a permanent brown on, thats the only way you will really get it back to you natural color, but you are definitely going to need treatments before you do it in order for it to hold its color.

  3. You could shave it off and regrow it - it will come back in its original color:
