I dyed my hair black three days ago and it turned out tooo dark and i don't want too much damage but i still want the color lightened so i got clairol natural instincts(not as powerful as other dyes) in a light brown. If i leave the dye in my hair longer, will it make it lighter?? or darker??

  1. The thing about natural instincts is that it fades really fast, so i suggest you get a stronger dye like nice n easy. it may start out as a dark brown but eventually turn into black again if you use natural instincts.

  2. The problem is to lighten hair you need more peroxide in the mixture, so unless you tried blonde or fair colours the mixture wouldn't be strong enough to lighten your hair especially from black.

The other problem is the more peroxide the more the hair will dry out, and it can cause real damage.

Some makes of hair dye do a product which is supposed to help wash the colour out if the colour is not want you want, but I have only ever heard about these briefly and never investigated further, so go and check at your local Boots or Superdrug.

The colour will wash out some anyway and therefore over the next week if you wash your hair several times its should fade a little, don't forget to use conditioner.

But take care not to put too many chemicals on your hair in quick succession as some of the ingredients actually get into your blood stream.
