Question:

Hair dye turned hair gray green-OTC Help?

I canNOT afford to go to the salon.

I had bleached out blonde hair for 1/2 year. (naturally dark dirty blonde)

Been using OTC blonde color for the roots and touch up color.

Yesterday I bought a medium blonde and it came out gray and green tinted. It did have a slight green tint previous to coloring, possibly from chlorinated pool water but I couldn't really tell b/c whenever my daughter said something to me was whenever we were in a store under flourescent lighting so I assumed it was the lights as no one ever looks good in that light anyway.

Okay so now I have this awful crappy color and I want to go back to my blonde.

Do you know if I can use an OTC product to fix this?

I've read about Color Oops...but I'm not too sure about it.

I've had a lot of experience coloring my hair and am very disappointed in Loreal b/c I used the color consultant online and it said I could use this color on my bleached out hair (been 8 weeks since last bleaching). Something told me it might turn this gray green and sure enough it did. Never again will I put a darker color on my bleached hair. I knew better already.

Anyway

so does anyone suggest Color Oops and if so...are you sure it isn't the same as just bleaching it out?

Could I use a highlighting kit instead and just put it all over for a little bit? Won't that take out the green gray?

I've washed it three times with regular Suave and see no change in it.

I want to do this tonight. This questions time for answers is only for the next hour.

and thank you for your answers :)

  1. You used a color with an ash bas{green]  u need to re color your hair with a warm tone, which will not turn the odd green. U can put a darker color, but need a filler first, then a color with warm tones[ warm or ash is printed on most of the tint boxes you buy at the store.    good luck.

  2. The reason it went gray green is that what you used was an Ash color.  Stay away from all dyes that say "Ash" as gray and green are 90% of the time the result.

I've never used Color Oops, so I can't really say anything about it.  A highlighting kit will only take the gray green out of the parts that get streaked.  To get rid of the gray green though, you will either have to strip your hair (bleach it) and start over, or dye it darker.  Either way, try the Garnier line of colors.  I've used at home color many times before and found that they are the best.
