Hair help he needs to decide?

This guy thinks he looks better in a faux hawk but he's taking AFJROTC this upcoming school year so he might have to get rid of it will he still be okay with 1 inch long hair? He's thinking he'll go to school this year with the faux hawk for a few days then the ROTC people will make him have short hair with no styling. Is it okay if he does this then just does the faux hawk up the year after that when he doesn't have ROTC and less acne?

If he shows up in a faux hawk, ROTC may make him shave his whole head, so I ask him how he is going to feel being bald until it all grows back...
