Hair style help? to go short or not?

im thinking of doing a drastic change of hair style. i want to go really short and darker, only i'm nervous because if i cut it short and ti sucks, ill be stuck with it for a long time. does anyone know if there is a website that does some sort of photo shop thing so you can see sort of how you look with different hair styles? or any other suggestions. thanks

Sometimes it's really good to just have a change, but in times like that it's best to go to a top salon and pay the top dollar for an excellent stylist, for example, do you know who has won hairdresser of the year in your area for the past several years? Do you know who styles most of the hair in say, Vogue or Harpers? These are where you should be looking. Don't be afraid of these people. They are usually great. I sent my husband off to a very famous salon, they do stars etc, and he got a top cut for $80. It was not what we were quoted either... much much less than what we were quoted, but it looks great.

These people know what will work with your face, the same with color. And it's worth paying for their knowledge. I've had some horrid hair disasters and sometimes there really is no going back from them unless you really love hats.

On the other hand, have you just gone through a tough phase and want to jump in and "cut it all off?" because I've done that too and lived to regret it. Those spur of the moment cut it all off times due to friends, guys, fights, parents, anything... they are the worst times to get your hair done. Don't get it chopped off if you're in that situation. Only get it done if you are feeling the need to change and you're in a good place in your life.

Change is great and should be embraced. Going short and dark is funky. I've been every color and dark is great. You can always get highlights if you hate it. And if you hate the color it grows out fast with trims and it will grow long again. It's just time. But so long as you get a good hairdresser to give you the bangs you desire and not some horrible shaggy hair like Mrs Brady then you'll be fine.
