went 2 hairdresser yday 2 get ma roots done. she asked if i have half head or full head so i said half. i watched her do them and she only put bleach on the darker roots. she left the bleach in for about 30mins (which is v short 4 me!) and wen she was dryin ma hair she saw that the roots were still obv. she said the only reason theyr still visable is bcz i dont get them done enough. it had only bin about 3 months since ma last colour and av had ma roots covered b4!

wen i got to th till she charged me £73 (£44 for half head highlights and £29 for wash and blowdry). on the price list outside the salon it says the wash and blowdry was included in the price of colour and root colour is £25

i ddnt say anythign coz the lady was so nice and i was too uset to argue but now the more i think about it the more i wna complain.

what exactly should i say to them? have i left ti too late?

  1. Get back in there,do not lose your temper as this rarely works.

If you have no joy, complain to trading standards at your local council.

  2. ok when you do bleach highlights you must never over lap the colour as you will overprocess the already blonde hair and it will cause breakage.

have you got a build up of blonde on the ends? may have been worth having a dark colour put through to break it up a bit,

are you sure on the colouring the root colour wasn't for a full tint regrowth?

how ever if you are not happy with it i would return back and explain you problem. tell them you were to upset to mention it at the time and they will hopefully re do them or re-emburst you some if not all of your money. (if the lady was nice like you said) she will understand and try to make things right.

really it shouldn't matter how long it has been the colour should still look right.

  3. you should have said something there and then, you can't really go back now and say you're unhappy with the price.  you've already paid it.

  4. that's really bad and i mean really bad. that's not being very professional at all and considering she's the hairdresser she should know the prices. what i would do is demand your money back and explain why. then i would book an appointment with the same salon but just with a different hairdresser. has she done your roots before? also, speak to the person who owns the salon and tell them what's happened. this is probably a good option because you can tell them directly and they can sort it out with them as they employed that person. if you have a problem they will deal with it in the best way possible and they want to make sure you feel happy with your hair and if you're not then they will do all they can to put it right because you're the customer and you are paying for it so you should get exactly what you asked for. i'm sure you haven't left it too late. but you need to put forward your case and complain otherwise you'll regret it. and make absolutely sure that you get what you want out of it. GO FOR IT GIRL!

  5. This happened to my mum - she was charged £120 by Saks for highlights and a trim...when she got home she literally looked the same. No difference. She was so upset that I decided to do something about it.

I called the salon and asked to speak to the manager. I explained what had happened. That my mum came in as usual and explained what she wanted (a cut and highlights) but that the colourist and stylist didn't actually change her look that much.

The manager then understandably asked if my mum could pop in so she could take a look at the result - I went in with her.

The manager took a quick look and apologised on behalf of the salon and said they would fix it asap - my mum has sensitive scalp so she had to wait a week before getting more colour done.

A week later she had it redone and it looked better. But the experience was so frustrating and that the salon took their prices up from £80 to £120 is ridiculous!! She's never been back!

So I'd say complain - get the manager to sort it out and make sure you tell them exactly why you're unhappy and that it is unacceptable. Ask for them to fix your roots and give you the money you were overcharged. It is only fair. They are paid to do a job and do it well.

Good luck. I hope it works out.

  6. you should've complained there and then. If you weren't satisfied. Plus there are cheaper salons and they can do a better job. I only pay £5 for my highlights doing cos a friend does mine.

Have you tried visiting your local hairdressing college, they usually need volunteers for their haircutting, they students are observed at all times.

  7. Hi, being a hairdresser, she should of left it on longer and that is no excuse of leaving them too long.  I would go back there and complain or have your hair done again at no charge.  Tell them you spoke to another hairdresser and she said you should of left it longer and you want it done again or your money back. Good luck.

  8. No, you havent left it too late, go back in as soon as you can and complain, ask to see the Manager or whoever is in charge, and point out to them the person who did your hair, (it could have been a trainee) tell them what youve said here and tell them you are far from happy with you hair!! I had a perm a few years ago and within 3 days it had dropped out and was straight, i complained and got the next few visiits free of charge!!

  9. Too late, you should have told her at the time. Who does your hair costing £73 Vidal fcuking Sassoon?

    Find somewhere new.

  10. 'root colour' might not mean the same thing as highlights, just colouring someones roots is a  lot less time and work than highlights.  Wash and blowdry might not be included with highlights.

I would go back and say you're not happy with the colour because the roots are still visible, tell them that you've had them done at 3 months before and it's been fine.  I probably wouldn't moan about the price, especially if they fix it.  Just find a different hairdresser next time.

You might have to start getting them done more often, when you leave it so long you can start to get banding of the colours because sometimes the new colour doesn't exactly match the old colour and it's more noticeable on a longer root, it's probably what you're seeing,  I've had it happen to me before, it will blend in more after a washes.

  11. Just never go there again.
