Hakim Warrick cherishes Phoenix Suns team workout – NBA Update
Hakim Warrick recently attended a team practice session along with some of his teammates from Phoenix Suns.
NBA has barred team officials, owners and coaches from contacting league players during the lockout and as such, the players cannot use team facilities for training.
So, being the leader that he is, Suns veteran point guard Steve Nash arranged the practice camp for his teammates in San Diego. Warrick was one of the players who attended and said that he loved getting together with his colleagues.
"That was good to work out, see the guys and have team bonding and see that they're ready," Warrick told The Arizona Republic.
Nash is a living legend among NBA players and is revered by the fans across NBA for his exceptional skills. As a senior figure on the Suns’ roster, he felt obliged to get the players together and when he calls, everybody listens.
Warrick was very pleased with the effort and said initiatives like these bode well for Phoenix. The franchise has not been able to make its presence felt in the NBA for the last few years with Nash not having enough quality support around him. They have also been unable to add talent to the roster this summer.
Hakim however doesn’t believe that the situation is all that gloomy and was optimistic about his franchise’s chances in the next NBA season,
"If the season starts, we are going to hit the ground running because we won't have a lot of changes to the roster.”
Warrick is one of the players; Phoenix will be expecting to step up next season. He had a below par season last time out. He averaged 8.4 points and 3.7 rebounds and his game time was also cut. The figures were the lowest for Warrick since his rookie season in the NBA back in 2005-2006.
Hakim however has vowed to play better next season. He has been busy this summer, working hard to improve his game. When he is not doing that, he is playing in pro am games, such as the one held in Philadelphia recently for Charity.
Hakim, a Philadelphia native, played a role in arranging the game, which saw a team of local Philly talent take on super stars like Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James and Chris Paul.
On the night, the home team actually beat the star studded ‘Team Melo’. Warrick and his side led almost throughout the game and closed it out at 132 – 123.
