Haleniya, a strong contender for thetote.com Handicap at Dundalk
Haleniya’s splendid victory last time around left the bookmakers with no option but to rate her favourite for thetote.com Handicap, to be held at Dundalk on Friday, March 30, 2012.
Get yourself ready for action, as the party is about to commence. According to the plan, the 1m2f150y event is due to get underway at 21:15 GMT.
Among the participants are: Haleniya, Atlas Peak, Peggarty, Waterloo Sunrise, Coach Bombay, Dancing On Turf, Hootie, Horseford Hill, Try Freedom, Countess Salome, Surf´s Up, Time Travel, Petit Roque and King Of Kilberry.
The abovementioned line-up has many powerful runners, but Haleniya looks in better position to bag winning prize worth €4,830. The four-year-old proved her mettle in August last year, when she secured first position by a short head distance in the Tramore
Races On Facebook Maiden.
Her maiden success came after a couple of ordinary performances earlier that year. The bay filly will be back in action after a gap of more than seven months. Therefore, she will be fresh and full of energy for today’s event.
Among her opposition, no runner is in special form these days. Hence, it is a good chance for the filly to resume her journey on a winning note.
The bookies are expecting Atlas Peak to cause an upset. The seven-year-old performed poorly at the start of this year, as he did nothing decent in three back to back races. However, he started improving his stats afterwards. In both of his last races, he
finished fifth on the chart.
The bay gelding certainly needs an extra effort to do something different. It will be a tough outing for him, but nobody can put him out of the equation.
Peggarty is also struggling with her form these days. At the start of this month, the four-year-old could not display anything notable, finishing fifth by a nose in the Cargotec Ireland Apprentice Handicap at Dundalk.
An upset cannot be ruled out, but Haleniya will be tough to beat. Almost all of her rivals are struggling with their form these days and thus, the E. D. Delany-trained filly can easily be termed as hot favourite. Bettor.com wishes best of luck to everyone.
