Haley Anderson claims Women’s 1500m freestyle title: Day five – 2011 World University Games
Haley Anderson of United States produced a wonderful splash on day five of the 2011 World University Games in long-course swimming in Shenzhen, China, on Thursday, August 18. The session of the meet conducted Women’s 1500m freestyle final.
In the corresponding race, Anderson hit the finishing wall in 16 minutes and 21.72 seconds to win the gold medal on the podium. That swim moved her to 21st place in the current rankings of world swimming. Previously, Anderson secured the gold
medal in the Women’s 1500m freestyle meet at the 2011 edition of the Summer Universiade, in Shenzhen. In the corresponding competition, she snared the silver medal in the 800m freestyle meet.
Meanwhile, Melania Schmid Costa of Spain earned silver medal on the podium by submitting an immaculate time of 16 minutes and 21.79 seconds. That splash moved her to 22nd spot in the world swimming rankings. Lauren Boyle of New Zealand captured
the bronze medal on the podium by posting an impressive time of 16 minutes and 26.37 seconds.
Megan Gilchrist of Great Britain wound up fourth in a time of 16 minutes and 27.49 seconds, while Chika Yonenaga of Japan was placed fifth after she touched the finishing wall in a time of 16 minutes and 35.00 seconds. Chika Yonenaga’s team-mate, Ayano Koguchi
earned sixth position in the respective meet in 16 minutes and 37.48 seconds.
Martina Memme De of Italy was placed seventh in a time of 16 minutes and 38.12 seconds, while Roxanne Tammadge of South Africa finished eighth in a time of 16 minutes and 46.85 seconds. Vivien Kadas of Hungary settled ninth with a time of 16 minutes and
48.76 seconds.
In the corresponding splash, Samantha Berge Vanden of United States of America was placed tenth in a time of 16 minutes and 49.72 seconds and Nadine Reichert of Germany wound up eleventh in a time of 16 minutes and 50.49 seconds. Nassif Katya Bachrouche
of Libya was placed at the twelfth spot of the race in a time of 16 minutes and 54.72 seconds.
