Haley Durmer captures Women’s 200m IM gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Greensboro
Haley Durmer of DYNA-GA captured gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on initial day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Greensboro on Thursday, July 12.
The 17-year-old Durmer remained in a considerable lead over her challengers throughout the discipline as she rushed her way towards the finishing end for gold medal.
With her magnificent pace, she stayed body length ahead of her closest challenger and tapped the wall for the crown of the discipline with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.99 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Daniell Jansen of RAYS-OH, who stayed 0.86 seconds apart and occupied silver medal of the discipline by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 20.85 seconds.
The second position holder of the event was chased by Micah Bohon of City of Charlest, who stayed one and a half body length behind and snared bronze medal of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 22.41 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Danielle Liu of Duke Aquatics-NC, who stayed nearly two seconds slower from the third position holder and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 24.30 seconds.
Liu was chased by Kylie Stewart of DYNA-GA, who remained just 0.03 seconds apart and posted a time of 2 minutes and 24.33 seconds for fifth position of the event.
The 16-year-old Stewart was chased by her teammate, Kelsey Prince, who stayed 0.36 seconds slower and claimed sixth fastest spot of the discipline by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 24.69 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Keena Lineback of Riptides-SC, who stayed 0.43 seconds away from her former finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 25.12 seconds.
The 19-year-old Lineback was chased by Ellie Grimes of Lakeside-KY, who made her way to the finishing blockade as eighth position holder by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 28.46 seconds.
In addition, Durmer was overjoyed with her blistering performance while the championship will end on July 15 after all swimming events.
