Haley Durmer captures Women’s 400m IM gold: Day two – USA Swimming Sectionals, Greensboro
Haley Durmer of DYNA-GA captured gold medal of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on second day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Greensboro on Friday, July 13.
The audience experienced gruelling efforts of their national players in the Women and Men’s 400m IM respectively as the swimmers demonstrated their stupendous efforts to reach the podium.
The 17-year-old Durmer stayed in a lead of half body length over her following swimmer and touched the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 58.94 seconds.
Her gold winning effort remained 0.48 seconds ahead of Keenan Lineback of RIPTIDES-SC, who proved her eligibility for silver medal of the discipline by clocking an effort of 4 minutes and 59.42 seconds.
Lineback was trailed by Ellie Grimes of Lakeside-KY, who stayed almost four seconds apart and secured bronze medal of the event by producing a time of 5 minutes and 03.87 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the event was obtained by Micah Bohon of City of Charleston, who remained two body lengths apart and settled on the wall by posting a time of 5 minutes and 05.66 seconds.
Similarly, Bohon was chased by Meghan Smith of Duke Aquatics-NC, who remained 0.40 seconds slower form her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 5 minutes and 06.06 seconds.
Smith stayed 0.44 seconds faster from Julia Durmer of DYNA-GA, who claimed sixth fastest spot of the race by hitting the finishing blockade with the timing of 5 minutes and 06.50 seconds.
Moments later, the audience witnessed notable efforts of Dylan Kase of Una BUZZ-GA in the Men’s 400m IM. The 19-year-old Kase stayed in a prominent lead over his closest swimmer and made his way to the wall for first position.
Kase enjoyed a lead of more than half body length over his following swimmer and hit the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 37.58 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by Michael Kenny of DYNA-GA, who was 0.62 seconds away from upsetting his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 38.20 seconds.
Kenny was trailed by Connor Herman of DYNA-GA, who remained 1.58 seconds apart and finished third in the event by posting a time of 4 minutes and 39.78 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the event was secured by Michael Hurdle of Silver Bullet EL, who stayed 0.67 seconds apart and ended his race with the timing of 4 minutes and 40.45 seconds.
Subsequently, Hurdle was traced by Hunter Brakovec of NSS-NC, who finished fifth in the event with the timing of 4 minutes and 41.88 seconds.
In addition, Durmer and Kase expressed happiness over their victories after the session.
