Half A Billion dominant in the Simply Cotton Handicap at Haydock
Haydock will host the Class 4 Simply Cotton Handicap over seven furlongs on Thursday, 24th May. Competing for the £4,075 prize money is a line-up of eleven runners.
Half A Billion, Acclamation’s three-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Amankila, has raced thrice during the season, twice at Southwell and once at Musselburgh.
Two out of the three tries were credited against his name as wins.
His seasonal debut was in the Cheltenham Festival Free Bets With Freebetting.Co.UK Maiden Stakes on 13th March at Southwell over six furlongs. Half A Billion won by six lengths’ lead while riding with Lee Topliss.
Finishing the closest to the winner was Ring For Baileys while the 2/1 favourite of the race, Young Freddie, could only manage the last spot on the line-up of four.
His second outing of the season was in the 32Red Handicap on 3rd April at Southwell over six furlongs. The 2/1 favourite runner up of the race, Half A Billion, settled once Abi Scarlet had won by the margin of 1 ¼ lengths while riding with Hayley
Turner.
Coming at terms with the third position was Reve Du Jour.
Bouncing back into form, Half A Billion won the Dickson Minto W.S. Handicap on 3rd May at Musselburgh over seven furlongs. Joining the winner on the other end of the wire after striding through the ¾ of a margin was the 4/1 favourite of the race,
Alkadi.
Settling third behind the winner was Joshua The First.
The three-year-old has not raced at Haydock before and is in form for posting the third success of the season through the fourth outing.
Half A Billion needs to stay at guard from Lady Layla, Excellent Art’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Tartouche.
She was entered as the 11/10 favourite of the Betfair Supports The Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre Conditions Stakes on 14th October at Haydock over seven furlongs.
The race was won by Basantee while riding with Richard Kingscote. Finishing the closest was Kid Suitor.
If she will be able to bag her seasonal debut today or not, will become news soon.
