  1. Mine are leather that zip. Don't get velcro, in my opinion, they will never be a 'custom fit' to your leg and the suede, imo, looks cheap.

The leather zip, when I first got them, were so tight and a bit painful to wear. Now (almost a year later) when I take them off, the shape of them is my calf shape. They fit PERFECTLY and I couldn't recommend them more!

Sad part is, I'm not sure of the brand. I'm going to try to find out, and if I do, I'll edit this (:

  2. I like the suede. On this site you can get a lot of the expensive brand names for half the price or more:

    or there is:

    www.justchapsus.com

    which sells neoprene ones.

  4. Mountain Horse Oily Extreamer Leggings (yes, that's the spelling)

    They are FABULOUS!!!!

  5. I prefer Ariat Leather half chaps.  They are a lot more comfortable then the suede because suede tends to bunch up.

  6. The chaps in your link are the type of chaps I would get.

leather mold to you shape but you have to put leather conditioner on them. Suede are good aswell but they arnt waterproof!

    Hope this helps!!

  7. www.robinsons-uk.com www.derbyhouse.co.uk www.rideaway.co.uk www.ebay.co.uk

I regulary use these. All have a wide range or your local saddlery/tack shop!

Suade you can usually machine wash and soak. Leather takes longer to care for. Though often looks smarter, though if you already have a pair of long leather boots the leather ones are often called gaiters and make your jodhpur boots and chaps look like long boots tgere fore doubling up on what you already have! Leather ones are also a lot more expensive.Suade/synthetic are more casual for every day ridng!

    hope this helps! xx

  8. These are the half chaps I have owned.

This one was my first pair-they're really not too bad. I couldn't afford a really decent pair, and these turned out to be pretty good. I still wear them from time to time, they're pretty comfortable. All leather.

And this is the pair I use now-I'd say they're the best for the money. I love them, very good quality. Leather with a suede inside. Zips up the back and velcros over the zipper.

Suede is okay to use, but I prefer the regular leather because it matches the boot (unless you have a suede boot-but I don't think I have ever seen a suede paddock boot before). Also, it is acceptable to use half chaps in lower-level shows, but they HAVE to match the boot and cannot look too...half-chappy (which would happen if you use suede rather than smooth leather).

  9. I prefer leather and I really like the Requisite ones sold by Robinsons - I now have 2 pairs of those !

They are really thin and light yet they seem to last and last.

( only reason I got a second pair is that the elastic under the foot bit broke on one and the tabs fell off the zippers - alsoo it was coming up to Christmas and my friend was stuck for a present for me !)

The older pair which I do still use are 5 or 6 years old and don't look it.

  10. I really like my Mondega Suede Half Chaps. They are so comfortable and work really well for me. Suede is not acceptable in levels any higher than schooling shows, so if you are looking for half chaps for higher level shows, I suggest you take a look at the ones Kaetlyn recommended.

  11. Ariat!!! all-rounds
