Half a dozen Philadelphia Flyers players having procedures done to repair multiple injuries-NHL News
About half a dozen Philadelphia Flyers’ players are reported to go or have gone under the knife to treat their respective injuries during the offseason since the team lost out in the Stanley Cup title race to the New Jersey Devils in the playoff conference
semi-finals.
The players had different nature of injuries and were quick to utilise the offseason free time to get them rectified at the earliest.
As of the latest, a couple of them have already undergone the process while the remaining few are in the line waiting for their turn. They are expected to have their respective procedures done over the next week.
The bunch is led by the all-star centre, Claude Giroux, who had a surgery last week to fix a torn cartilage on his right wrist.
He also had a surgery on the left wrist to get the bone spurs removed from it. Altogether, he needs six weeks minimum on the recovery and rehab.
Flyers’ forward, Wayne Simmonds, is another player who had surgery to get fixed his left index figure. The timeline for his recovery is also around six weeks.
Meanwhile, defenseman, Matt Carle, also had a surgery for a torn stomach muscle. He is expected to take a couple of months on healing and rehab.
A pair of more Flyers’ players is due to have procedures done for their injuries within a span of a week. They include defenseman, Kimmo Timonen.
Timonen’s problem is described to be the disk fragment in the lower back. His procedure is rather serious of all and might take a bit longer to heal.
Even though the player is yet to have the operation done, the estimated timeline at the moment for his recovery is about 10 weeks, with the certain possibility of a change after the player goes through the process.
Forward, James van Riemsdyk, is also due an operation to repair a torn labrum in his right hip. At the moment, he too is estimated to spend a couple of months on recovery and rehab.
However, as in case of Timonen, James can possibly consume a longer period of time to get fit again.
