  1. Did you mean as a buyer or seller?

    As a seller, you would get around 25-30% of the purchase price of the book depending on the condition of the book, the general demand of the book in the marketplace and your negotiation skills.

    As a buyer, the answer is obvious - you pay half. But I still wanted to bring this part up is to ensure that you are not missing out some books which are free (in other words, to ensure that you are not buying free books for half price). You get to read many old books legally in the Internet for free. For example, you get to read classic literature for free at:

    And other books at other sites (depends on what you want). All I want to say here is that don't miss out the freebies which are so widely available these days.


  2. It depends...basically, not much.  I go to Half Price all the time and have sold books there as well.  Generally, you will do better if there is a Hansens Books in your area, generally, smaller, privately owned used book stores give you a much better return on your books than Half Price.
